JOIN US FOR THE INTERNATIONAL BIKE SHOW – MARCH 7-9
The Trust is pleased to be participating again in the Toronto International
Bike Show. This year, we’ll be using the opportunity to officially
launch the First Annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure Tour –
this summer’s exciting end-to-end ride of the Waterfront Trail,
July 4-11, 2008. This Trail ride is open to everyone, from experienced
cyclists to recreational trail users and families and kids. We’re
excited to unveil this amazing event and let people know about all of
the great things that are being planned locally to showcase the communities
and welcome participants.
We’ll also be unveiling our updated 2008 Waterfront Trail and Greenway
Mapbook, fresh off the presses.
As always, we look forward to connecting with Trail users to discuss the
Trail and issues related to the waterfront. Hope to see you there!

MISSISSAUGA APPROVES WATERFRONT PLAN
On February 27, the Mississauga council unanimously endorsed a proposed
plan to revitalize the unused Lakeview lands, site of the former Lakeview
generating station. The land covers approx 200 acres south of Lakeshore
Rd between Cawthra and Dixie Rds. The citizen-driven plan envisions extend
the existing Waterfront Trail and adding major features such as an aquarium
or pier and converting the land into a waterfront community with new medium-rise
towers.
JOURNEYS FOR A CAUSE:
This year, the Waterfront Trail will comprise part of the route for two
individuals, each undertaking a journey for an important cause. Please
help spread the word about the following events…
GEORGE’S JOURNEY OF JOY
This spring, George Hostick will circumnavigate Lake Ontario by bike to
create awareness and raise funds for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog
Guides. The ride will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the foundation
as well as George’s 70th birthday. The ride begins on May 22 and
finishes on June 13, 2008. Along the way there will be opportunities to
meet George and contribute to the cause.
For more information on the ride and to make a donation, please email
info@dogguides.com or call 1-800-768-3030.

RUN THE DREAM
On March 25, Jonathan Howard will embark on a 9,000 km run across Canada
to raise money for various Children’s Charities. This incredible
run will take 8 months, beginning in St Johns, NL and ending in November
in Victoria, BC. Over the course of this time, Jonathan will visit over
650 communities in 10 provinces. The trip will involve Jonathan running
the equivalent of a marathon every day!
