Adventure: noun; an exciting or remarkable experience
Although adventure is a noun, the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure is about to turn it into a verb. The Great Waterfront Trail Adventure is a journey designed to re-connect you to our Great Lake and the St. Lawrence River. We all love our waterfront, but when did you last visit to see how it was doing?
On July 3rd, 2010 we will
launch the third annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure,
it is a chance to experience the rich diversity of 41
waterfront communities from Niagara to the Quebec border.
You値l see sand dunes, coastal wetlands, white pine forests, steep bluffs, historic towns, harbours, steel mills, industry, apple orchards, vineyards and meadows. You値l hear the sound of crashing waves, train whistles, bird songs, relaxed conversations, interesting stories, and musicians.
You値l ride, shop, ride, eat, ride, swim, ride, sing, ride, drink, ride and laugh. You値l feel the thrill of anticipation, a tremendous sense of accomplishment and a deep appreciation. But most of all, you値l feel a whole new connection to Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence River.

Whether it is for one day, or the full eight days you will become part of the experience that will move the waterfront and community projects forward.
About the Waterfront Regeneration Trust
Our goal is to make sure people can get to the water; and that the water is worth getting to.
Since the establishment of the Waterfront Regeneration Trust in 1992, we and our community partners have worked
diligently to:
- Expand and enhance the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail and Greenway as part of a larger strategy to regenerate the waterfront; and
- Promote the Waterfront Trail and Greenway as a way to achieve a healthy environment and lifestyle.
History:
July,
2008 was the inaugural year of the Great Waterfront
Trail Adventure, the first end-to-end tour of the Trail
that is welcoming the public. In 2002, partners
of the trail, including journalist Kate Harries, rode
the length of the route and documented their journey
in a series of articles
that appeared in the Toronto
Star.
We
had so much fun, as have other end-to-enders who have
done their own tours that we want to share the experience
with as many people as we can. There is a true
sense of pride and accomplishment in traveling along
the entire 730 kms of the Waterfront Trail, plus it
provides a unique experience of southern Ontario. Gather
your friends and join us for this fun adventure from
July 3rd to 10th, 2010.
